The Anacostia Watershed Society aims to empower watershed residents to be educated stewards of the Anacostia River and surrounding watershed. Our adult education programs allow for participants to engage with their watershed in a meaningful way, learn about historic and current watershed impacts and restorative actions, explore local flora and fauna, and develop watershed health projects and initiatives within their own communities.
Anacostia Watershed Society adult education programs include both classroom and field-based classes, as well as stewardship project implementation and service learning. Throughout their course of study, participants engage in various restoration projects that benefit the Anacostia Watershed.
AWS currently offers two adult education courses: Watershed Stewards Academy and the Master Naturalist Program.
